Cateran Bay

There are 74 different islands in the Whitsundays, from untouched tiny islands to resorts destinations like Hamilton Island or famous ones like Whitsunday Island, where Whitehaven Beach is located.

Believe us, although the name of some less popular islands will not come immediately to your mind when you think about the Whitsundays, they are equally beautiful to the top ones and deserve to be visited too.

A clear example is Border Island, an outlying island located to the east of Hook Island and home to Cateran Bay, an amazing place for a snorkelling stopover and a secluded overnight under the milky way.

Consider adding Cateran Bay to your itinerary, it is close enough to Whitehaven Beach, and Wings Private Charters will love to take you there!

THINGS TO DO

It is possible to spend the night at Cateran Bay, and wake up in paradise!

Is it your dream to be on an untouched and tropical island just you and your best buddies? Well, this is your chance! We guarantee that you will have the beach for yourself.

Snorkelling is also a great idea, especially with northerly winds. Abundant marine life lives in this area so get ready to spot some turtles, manta rays, colourful fishes and more. Beautiful coral can be also found in the shallow waters around the bay.

Border Island is a Marine National Park Green Zone, which means that fishing and shell collecting is prohibited.

If you love lookouts as much as we do, we highly recommend doing the 1.2 km return bushwalk that will reward you with some amazing views of the Whitsundays.
