Amazing and family-friendly hikes can be done in the Cid Harbour area. The effort will be rewarded with breathtaking views and nature gifts along the way. Hikes from Cid Harbour are part of the Whitsundays Ngaro Sea Trail.

DUGONG - SAWMILL TRACK

Dugong - Sawmill Track is an easy and satisfying walk between Dugong beach and Sawmill beach. You will need only one hour to complete the track (3 km return).

Kids love it! The giant tropical rainforest and magical collection of moss, lichens and fungi will have everyone mesmerized.

But keep your eyes on the ocean too, as you will probably spot more than one marine turtle!

WHITSUNDAY PEAK TRACK

Cid Harbour

This challenging walk of 5km is known as the roof of the Whitsundays. Can you guess why? The panoramic views at the top are unbeatable and 100% worth the effort.

Remember to pack plenty of water, sunglasses, a hat and comfortable shoes. And f course, your camera! You will want to have memories of this unforgettable experience.

HISTORY

During the Second World War, Australian and allied navies used Cid Harbour as an anchorage prior to the Battle of the Coral Sea.

The Battle of the Coral Sea took place in 1942 and it was a major naval battle between the Imperial Japanese Navy and naval and air forces of Australia and the United States.

The beaches at Cid Harbour offer the perfect conditions for anchoring and spending the night under the stars.

SAWMILL BEACH

Sawmill Beach is probably the best spot at Cid Harbour to watch the sunset and wait for the night to come, as it is protected from NE and SW winds.

DUGONG INLET

Not far away from Sawmill Beach, Dugong Beach also offers another safe anchorage at Cid Harbour. Both beaches offer the perfect conditions for an afternoon picnic and family games.

HOMESTEAD BAY

Located at Cid Island, Homestead Bay offers a quiet and pretty anchorage with excellent views of the passage from Cid Island, although is only available during daytime.
