Whitsunday Anchorages

Cid Harbour

Cid Harbour

Situated on the eastern side of Whitsunday Island, Cid Harbour stands as a picturesque anchorage nestled within the western expanse of the Whitsunday Islands. Its notable feature lies in its ability to provide protection from winds arriving from virtually all directions, ensuring a tranquil night's sleep in a breathtaking setting beneath the stars.

Beyond serving as a sheltered anchorage, Cid Harbour offers an array of activities. Indulge in a moment of relaxation aboard your private 60ft catamaran while observing the local turtles and dugongs. Alternatively, venture ashore to partake in one of the remarkable bushwalks that the bay has to offer, including the challenging yet rewarding Whitsunday Peak Walk.

Chance Bay

Chance Bay

Located on the tranquil southeastern coast of Whitsunday Island, Chance Bay presents an opportunity to experience the same pristine white silica of Whitehaven Beach, but in a more secluded ambiance. It also serves as a sheltered sanctuary from northerly winds.

Chance Bay is accessible by foot from South Whitehaven Beach via a leisurely 7km round-trip walk through the Whitsunday Islands rainforest. Another option is to anchor in the bay aboard Wings 3 and embark on an exploration of the bay's reef using our clear bottom kayaks, embrace a snorkeling adventure, or enjoy a leisurely paddleboard. Don't forget to keep an eye out for turtles along the way.

Langford Island

Langford Island

Nestled at the northern tip of the Whitsundays, near Hayman Island, Langford Island is one of our favourite anchorages. This quaint island offers a range of activities, from snorkeling and observing turtles to exploring mangrove trees. Follow a trail lined by endangered Whitsundays Bottle Trees for a short nature walk, or simply unwind with a towel and take in the beauty.

Set sail with Wings Sailing Charters Whitsundays on an exclusive day or overnight charter, and relish this idyllic haven. Our private mooring, strategically positioned near the island's splendid reef and underwater sculptures, offers you a unique perspective to immerse yourself in the island's beauty and captivating coastal ecosystems.

Turtle Bay

Turtle Bay

Turtle Bay is an amazing anchorage of the Whitsundays Islands. The white-sand beaches, the laid-back atmosphere, bright colourful fishes, and many other outstanding characteristics of this bay, make it the perfect spot for a relaxed day with your mates or family.

Many of our guests choose to make a well-deserved stop on Turtle Bay during their Wings Sailing Private Charter in the Whitsundays. Spending the night is also possible, as long as the wind comes from North East or North West.

Not only is it a great place to avoid the crowds and make a lunchtime stopover, but also offers excellent conditions for some watersports and family activities!

Manta Ray Bay

Manta Ray Bay

Mantaray Bay is an essential destination for all of our overnight charters. Once you experience it firsthand, you'll understand why we love it so much.

Mantaray Bay can be likened to a natural aquarium within the Whitsundays this bay teems with life, featuring Maori Wrasse (affectionately named George), Giant Trevally, Batfish, and Yellowtail Fusiliers. These marine inhabitants have grown accustomed to our presence, making them remarkably approachable.

One of the unique advantages of experiencing Mantaray Bay with Wings Sailing Charters is the opportunity to savor its wonders during off-peak times. While the bay may attract attention during busier periods, our charters provide you with the chance to relish its beauty away from the crowds of the day charters.

Cateran Bay

Cateran Bay Border Island

Border Island is the perfect pitstop when traveling to or from Whitehaven Beach. This island paradise, nestled within the protected green zone of the Whitsundays, boasts a flourishing marine ecosystem that places it high on our list of preferred snorkeling destinations in the region.

Aside from the exceptional snorkeling opportunities, Cateran Bay, our favored anchorage on Border Island, has on-land exploration also. A brief hike through native grasses to the island's saddle rewards you with breathtaking vistas of the encompassing waters, nearby islands, and reefs. Alternatively, you can simply unwind on the beach, with the likelihood of having this pristine stretch of shoreline all to yourself.
