Cid Harbour

Cid Harbour, located on the western side of Whitsunday Island, is one of the largest harbours and one of the most popular places on the Whitsundays Islands. The best spot for a smooth and calm night under the stars.

Offering a sheltered spot to spend the night and magnificent views, Cid Harbour is usually protected from strong winds. Its proximity to the mainland makes it perfect for spending a half-day exploring the west of Whitsunday Island. The magnificent natural attractions close to Cid Harbour deserve to be visited at least once during your sailing holidays in the Whitsundays.

What makes Cid Harbour worth visiting?

History

During the Second World War, Australian and allied navies used Cid Harbour as an anchorage prior to the Battle of the Coral Sea.

The Battle of the Coral Sea took place in 1942 and it was a major naval battle between the Imperial Japanese Navy and naval and air forces of Australia and the United States.
