Everyone talks about the magnificent coral reef, the unbelievable Whitehaven Beach, and the Hill Inlet Lookout, but is it possible to visit all of them in 2 or 3 days? The answer is yes. An overnight sailing tour around the Whitsunday Islands is the best way to enjoy these famous places.

The Whitsunday Islands are an archipelago of 74 islands and we know it sounds like a lot but don’t worry, as always, we’ve got all the info to help you make the best travel choices for you.

The Islands

First of all, we invite you to check out this interactive map to make a better mental picture of the Whitsundays.

People from all around the world make Whitehaven Beach a must-see when they come to Australia. This unique beach located in Whitsunday Islands is famous for its bright white sands, clear waters, and magnificent views from Hill Inlet Lookout.

If you are looking for a catered adventure experience, there are different tours from Airlie Beach that take you to enjoy Whitehaven Beach for a whole day. Wings offer a variety of day tours to Whitehaven Beach at great prices that also include snorkel, paddleboard, and even more activities in private bareboat charters.

There are no resorts on Whitehaven Beach and spending the night there is only possible in some camping areas. One of the most magical adventures you can have in the Whitsundays is to spend the night aboard a boat next to the beach and wake up before the first ferries from Airlie Beach arrive. This is the best chance you have of walking and swimming at Whitehaven alone or with your travel buddy.

Hook Island is famous for its snorkelling spots and untouched bays like Butterfly Bay, Mantaray Bay and Mackeral Bay. Don’t lose your chance to get to know George, a massive and friendly Maori Wrasse fish who resides in Mantaray Bay!

Anchoring and spending the night at Stonehaven, located also in Hook Island is probably the best experience for those who love sunsets and falling asleep under the milky way. Stonehaven is close to the best snorkelling spots and due to its good wind protection, is a popular spot for overnight vessels.

Langford Island Spit Reef is a must-visited destination for anyone exploring the Whitsundays. This small and untouched island has a fringing coral reef that makes it ideal for snorkelling and discovering marine life. Also, during low tide, a long sand spit stands along the water creating a magical destination where you can stop your kayak or SUP Board and have a picnic in the middle of the ocean.

Of course, this is not all. Hayman Island, Hamilton Island, Daydream Island are part of the archipelago of The Whitsundays Islands. These three islands are known for their luxury resorts and for being stylish holidays destinations.

While you sail around the Whitsundays Islands passages, you will discover secret tiny beaches or large white sand paradises, stunning coral reefs were to splash and explore, untouched islands, surreal lookouts and more. With an overnight experience of one, two, three or four days you will be able to sleep under the stars, wake up in paradise and enjoy these magical places before the crowds arrive.

Sleep aboard, wake up in paradise

Imagine spending the night on the sea and watching the ocean come to life in the dark with the underwater blue lights. If you want to sleep on the islands, instead of doing check-in and check-out in different hotels, you can sail around the Whitsunday Islands in a fully equipped catamaran and wake up in the type of places that you dream about.

Wings has a variety of private charter to help you make that dream become reality! From a 2 day 1 night experience right up to a 4 day 4 night liveaboard charter.
